Our species has had a long and varied relationship with the natural world around us. For a long time, we existed in harmony with nature, using just what was needed to survive. Then we learned to partly tame nature’s bounty and built walls to contain and admire it when and where we wanted. Now we are coming to the realisation that we need to fence in and protect the natural world from the danger we present to it and not the danger it presents to us. Cousteau’s words are more true now than when he wrote them…
"For most of history, man has had to fight nature to survive; in this century he is beginning to realise that, in order to survive, he must protect it.”

So, this week let’s embrace the natural world and learn to love and live in harmony and not at odds with our surroundings…getting out and exploring is one way to appreciate it, or maybe taking advantage of running in the winter months…but we must also protect what we have and a certain legend in trail running is on a mission to reduce waste in trail running gear…
