The virtues, benefits and joys of nature are very much extolled and championed here every week at Kings of the Trail, including the need to get out there and fully immerse yourself in the environment around you. Beck’s wonderful Mellow Gold was released over 30 years ago this month and laid down the groundwork for a whole genre of music, slacker rock; which was also one of the defining sounds of my youth. This track exemplifies the playful, lo-fi, homemade, chilled sound that Beck came to be known for. Full of musical integrity and some truly awesome tunes but all with a sound and impression that he really couldn’t care less…
