“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our personalities and temperaments are formed, in part, by the experiences and lessons we have learned (or not!) in the course of our lives. Through both positive and negative events, we are formed by what has happened and what will happen as we navigate whatever time we have. Moulded in the shape of experience. That’s all well and good. However, there are also plenty of people out there for whom this isn’t the end of the story. People who see this as a jumping-off point for what could be possible; the beginning of a journey and not the finish. Not a definitive point of limitation, but a chance to see where the limits actually lie. It’s only when you are tested and pushed that the voice inside starts to get louder, stronger and more noticeable until you realise that you are capable of more than you thought possible. Courtney Dauwalter often refers to a mental pain cave that she retreats to when things are tough. Chipping away at the previous walls of this psychological cage to see how far and fast she can go. We all possess that inner strength - the ability to push beyond what we feel we can achieve - turn up the volume and listen and you may find you can go further and explore more……
Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Each week I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection – just like trail runs or hikes, you can be sure that it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Some things in life can just make you happy…and for me, a new album from Lake Street Dive is one of those things…this new offering is more electro and pop-influenced than previous records, but I’ve chosen a track that is a certified funk banger with some pretty relevant lyrics…I highly recommend all their tunes, but this special number is called Get Around…
