“Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant."
Robert Louis Stevenson
In recent sports history and culture, the phrase ‘trust the process’ has become an ongoing joke synonymous with the Phliadelpila 76ers and their efforts over the last decade to rebuild the Basketball franchise. So much so, that one of the stars the team was built around, Joel Embiid is now known as ‘Mr. Process.’ This is just a reworking of an age-old belief. A tweaking, updating and repackaging of the idea that by working each day to grow and improve, by doing the hard yards consistently, you are planting the seeds that will result in amazing results and achievements over the long run. It is about removing the quick vanity hits of what the outcome looks like and focussing on the here and now. We hear a lot of noise about shortcuts, cheat codes or new ideas that purportedly provide a way to get the results without the hard work, but these fads can’t replace discipline and commitment. The importance of concentrating on the details; on technique, on training, following good nutrition and getting plenty of sleep. All these actions combined can add up to unexpected results. If you ask any successful athlete (or anyone who has completed a goal) the real success and joy come from the incremental and accumulative progression made each day that provided the platform for success. So trust the process, plant the seeds and keep up the hard work…
Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Each week I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection – just like trail runs or hikes, you can be sure that it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Despite the probable irony of this new song from Blossoms highlighting a perfect individual that doesn’t exist, it gives some ideal pointers about how to live your life to the fullest. All the ideas could even be considered ‘seeds’ that if planted would contribute to a full and happy life. That, and it’s also catchy as hell. 80s synth pop blends with high-energy guitars and beats. It's a fun tune...
