“Obstacles are meant to be surmounted. Shun self-doubts and be victorious.”

Sri Chinmoy

Victories can come as a result of huge, monumental achievements. Some take years of planning, training, and courage to achieve. Epic adventures that defy belief and reshape what we consider humans capable of. There are also small, day-to-day wins that make our lives more complete and our existence seem, well, slightly more enjoyable. Even if just a little bit and for only a brief moment in time. When I look out my window and gaze into the distance and up into the hills, I can see a section of overhanging trees on the horizon that stand out. I had been trying to find these particular trees when out on my trail runs for a while now. I wanted to know where they are and what they look like from where they stand. Certainly not anything world-changing, but a challenge I wanted to overcome, nonetheless. After some frustrating and fruitless efforts, I committed to finding that spot. Using various mapping and navigation tools, I narrowed down the area and set out on a mission. I am happy to report that during a long trail run this week, I found the trees! I sat on a rock nearby and looked back down in the direction of my usual gaze, happy that I had completed this little personal mission. It’s important to remember that victories don’t need to be Herculean efforts that set new boundaries and push limits. They can be more personal. Even overcoming a minor challenge counts as a victory as it means something to you. I now get to sit here and look up at the trees knowing what they see looking back. That is a satisfying feeling and a victory I will gladly take…

Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...
