"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”
Carl Sagan
Incredible things are being discovered all the time, even if most of our planet has already been scoured and mapped. Discoveries can shape the future or help us understand the past. Just this week, discoveries in two very different areas have been announced. Archaeologists have found what they believe is the lost tomb of King Thutmose II in Egypt, the first such find in over 100 years. At the same time, Microsoft has released news of their latest quantum computing chip, Majorana 1, using the world’s first topoconductor. A breakthrough in the type of material used for this application. Looking within, we can also find incredible personal moments, often when we are pushed and tested physically or mentally. These are not important historical discoveries for the wider world, but they can make an amazing difference in individual lives, helping us realise there is still much to be discovered about our capabilities and what we can achieve…
Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Dianne Whelan’s incredible journey was almost 15,000 miles and took almost six years, but the experience was so much more than just stats…

Reading this story made me think about the legendary Cliff Young. He proved that humans can do incredible things, but what are the limits?

Some love it, some loathe it…some run a slow long plod, some a more moderate-paced examination of where they are with their running…but it is a key part of a runner’s training…

Developing a love and appreciation for the natural world, strengthening fitness, adding new knowledge and developing their understanding of the world around them; outdoor experiential learning has many benefits…

Each week, I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection of music. Like trail runs or hikes, the playlist will be varied and eclectic, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy…
I choose this piece of music as much for the story around it as the tune itself. The track is good for those moments when you need a bit of motivation to get up and tackle a challenge. The French artist Rilès certainly knows about challenges; to promote this album, he ran for 24 hours straight on a treadmill, clocking up over 200 km in the process…but even more impressive is his energy the moment he stepped off the treadmill - deciding during the run to record the music video for this tune in one take as soon as he completed his epic run…check it out here: Rilès - Dead or Alive
